WARMUP # 1: MIRRORING
Here are some basic ideas for leading a ‘follow along’ game. A nice even tempo and verbal encouragement can lead to many enjoyable moments.
ECHO
This activity encourages students to listen first then follow. Remember that there is a little lag time (about 1.4 seconds) so time your part accordingly. Kids love to lead these activities also.
ENERGY BALL
This warmup combines free and fast movements and sudden freezing. Kids get to use a lot of energy and practice control and imagination . How else can you encourage them to wiggle and freeze.
I MOVE , YOU MOVE …..
lets create short movement sequences that others in the class need to watch, remember and repeat. As in, visual Mirror and audio Echo students can lead these warmups also. Always a good time.
SAY WHAT I SAY, DO WHAT I DO
Expressing emotions with only sounds and movement can be a lot of fun. Students also are able to safely express a wide variety of emotions.
